The wind has now become much steadier for the two frontrunners, who entered the trade winds yesterday evening.

For them, the transition zone between the big low pressure systems passing north of them and the ENE’ly trade winds developing under the influence of the high-pressure system to the north-west, should see the trade winds strengthen.

These conditions should have given Francis a few hours rest before he prepares to tackle the next phase of the race.

They’re off now on the long high speed run towards the French West Indies.
