IDEC SPORT EXPECTED AT THE FINISH AT AROUND 1700hrs UTC

Francis Joyon and his crew of five are expected to cross the Jules Verne Trophy finishing line at around 1700hrs on Friday 8th January. They are then expected to reach Brest at around 1900hrs UTC, where a giant screen and podium have been set up for the public.

At 1430hrs UTC, Gwénolé Gahinet was contacted aboard the big, red trimaran. We asked him about the ETA for the finish. He replied, “We have around two and a half hours of sailing and we’re still going fast.” That confirms that it will be around 1700hrs that IDEC SPORT should cross the finish around 4 miles from the island of Ushant.

Francis, Bernard, Clément, Alex, Boris and Gwénolé will therefore be completing their round the world voyage in less than 48 days, which in itself is quite an achievement.
